Warnings & Safety Rules

Read these instructions carefully before using our products.

Please note that the term "carrier" refers to both slings and wraps.

Before each use, check the condition of the sling/wrap. Never use it if it is damaged (e.g., loose stitches, worn or torn fabric, etc.).

Always keep your baby under supervision and ensure that their airways (nose and mouth) remain clear.

Make sure your baby’s chin does not press against their chest, as this may cause breathing difficulties or even suffocation.

If your baby is premature, has a low birth weight, or presents any medical issues, seek advice from a healthcare professional before using this product.

Do not carry your baby in the sling/wrap if they are very restless. The risk of falling would be too high.

Dress your baby appropriately, bearing in mind that the sling/wrap counts as an extra layer.

Ensure that your child is always securely positioned in the sling/wrap: support them with one hand while adjusting, create a seat by tucking some fabric under the baby’s bottom, and keep adjusting the fabric tension throughout the entire carrying period.

If your baby cannot yet hold their head up by themselves, make sure their head is supported at all times.

Mema Ngai carriers are not suitable for sports or physical activities.

Never use Mema Ngai carriers in or on vehicles (car, motorbike, bicycle, etc.). They are not a substitute for a car seat.

Avoid bending forward while carrying your baby; instead, squat down to prevent the risk of falling.

Do not carry your baby if you are taking medication or have a health condition that may affect your balance.

Always be mindful of your environment, especially in the kitchen where there are high risks of burns (do not handle boiling water or hot oil while carrying your baby, and be careful around sharp objects, etc.).

For the first few times, or if you are not confident with back carrying (Liputa Nkoko), ask another person to assist you by supporting the child during the process, or always practice over a bed to avoid any risk of injury.

Back carrying with the Liputa Nkoko is recommended only once your baby can hold their head up properly on their own — usually around 4 months.

Always remember that you take up more space when carrying your baby. Be careful when passing through doors, narrow spaces, etc., to avoid bumping your child.
